The Grooming Process
Typically it requires 1 hour of labor to groom a pet.
A short haired, well behaved smaller dog, less,
A polar bear who is slightly over due, much more. 2 1/2 hours+
with 2-3 people working is not unusual.
We've found that with 2-3 bathers and 1-2 finish groomers we optimize work flow
and minimize time in the shop. We try to schedule completion times by 1) customer request,
2) order the appointment was made, and 3) optimizing daily scheduling sequence.
We are constantly addressing our quality and efficiency, as they both directly
affect our customer's needs. By looking at the grooming operation as a manufacturing
process, and using modern manufacturing principles in our workflow layout, scheduling
and shop floor setup, we are able to reduce the amount of labor going into a
particular job, while maintaining (hopefully improving) quality. Consequently we
are able to control costs and minimize prices.
We believe we are the only local groomer who knows how to spell 5-S.
